About Roy Sheppard

Executive Woman magazine once wrote “Roy Sheppard is enthusiasm personified.” Known for this, he is always busy and thrives on sharing ideas and people.

For the past 10 years he has been speaking on the subject of ‘networking’ – for FAR longer than its been fashionable! A former visiting lecturer at Cranfield School of Management, Roy’s ‘proper’ job is as a conference moderator/MC and speaker. He’s the ‘conscience of the audience’, and has a reputation for asking guests and speakers exactly what the audience want to know. www.RoySpeaks.com

His business development seminar "How to Attract More Quality Clients Discreetly - Without Selling" has run for many years - at public seminars as well as for companies internally.

Roy is a regular guest on radio programmes - invariably he is asked to contribute his views on male/female relationship issues/problems - from a male perspective and in the context of his latest book (see below.)

Conference Moderator and Speaker

In 2008, he moderated the world’s largest industry conference in Las Vegas. 53,000 delegates attend ReCon, the International Council of Shopping Center’s (ICSC) annual event. Roy interviewed the veteran CNN broadcaster Lou Dobbs. He followed it with a highly-spirited and entertaining, standing-room only session with broadcaster Tucker Carlson and James Carville – the political strategist who put Bill Clinton into the White House.

In 2007, Roy moderated his second ICSC global summit (held in Cape Town) where he interviewed Nobel Prize winner FW de Klerk and Alastair Campbell, Tony Blair’s former Director of Communications and Strategy. Previous ICSC events include Istanbul, Rome, Dubai and New York.

Web Video Production

As part of his role as a moderator at conferences, Roy is routinely commissioned to produce video-based interviews of key executives and customers who cannot attend his clients’ conferences in person. Clients include British American Tobacco and law firms Linklaters and Lovells.

Additionally, Roy and his team specialise in creating video testimonials and web video for company websites. The focus is always on helping clients create powerful editorial content for training purposes or designed to generate new business. He doesn''t make Hollywood style 'corporate videos'. Meet Greet and Prosper, a handy pocketbook of practical tips on how to work a room.
Rapid Result Referrals. How to attract more clients discreetly without selling.
And more recently, a book that helps male and female victims of very nasty women to protect themselves. Called Venus: The Dark Side, Roy has written it with Mary T Cleary from Ireland. Mary founded the charity www.Amen.ie. The book has received rave reviews, especially from women. To view a growing collection of stories submitted by innocent men and women who have fallen prey to these women visit www.VenusTheDarkSide.com

Roy is also the publisher of Michael Bland’s book When It Hits the Fan. This has already become a crisis-communication bible.

Three fun websites Roy has created:

1. At the start of 2008 Roy felt he was 30 pounds overweight, so he created a website to track his road to ‘Slimsville’. Each week (or so!) he creates a blog giving progress and the lessons learned. To see how he’s getting on, go to www.FatRoySlim.com

2. Amidst the turmoil of the credit crunch, he and his partner Peggy have assembled many of their favourite tips to save money and resources. Take a look at www.NiftyThrifty.co.uk . Submit your ideas too.

3. Roy came up with a particularly neat idea one day. Something called a ‘Wow Card’. If you see someone who you feel deserves a ‘Wow’ – you simply hand them one of these cards and carry on walking! You don’t even have to say anything – perfect for anyone who is shy! Visit www.Wowcardz.com. If you want to see a woman melt in front of you – watch her face when she reads the back of the card. Peggy and Roy toured the south west coast of Ireland earlier in 2008. While there, they were served by a waitress in her 50’s who was a real character. They decided she deserved a Wow Card.  She politely took the card. Thanked them – and then read it. She was knocked sideways by it. She said “Thank you. You have no idea how much this means to me.” Soon afterwards she was seen showing the card to her colleagues. When she delivered the bill for the meal. She repeated “You have no idea how much this means to me.” Then when Roy and Peggy got up to leave, the waitress whispered something in Peggy’s ear. Then hugged her, turned to Roy and kissed him on the cheek. Outside Roy asked Peggy “What did she whisper to you?” Peggy paused, and said “Earlier today she was told she has advanced cancer.”
